Joanne is currently a senior at UC Davis majoring in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Her interests for Public Health stemmed from previous summer research experience at the School of Gerontology in the University of Southern California. At that lab, her project focused on using a mouse model to study Alzheimer’s Disease, which is the most common cause of dementia in the elderly. Now at the Whitmer Lab she studies the association of education level and dementia incidence in diverse ethnic groups. She is interested in pursuing an MPH to study the human aspect of Alzheimer’s Disease but during her down times, she likes spending time at church to hang out with her friends and live life together.
